Safe Play Areas
Proper
groundcover is one of the most important factors in making your backyard
or community playground safe for children and keeping your play set in good shape. We
can help create a Play Zone for your backyard that is right for your set, your yard and your budget.
You can also purchase Rubber Mulch
and other Landscape Supplies
directly from us.
A
Clean Place to Play
Typically, the high traffic areas of a play set are underneath the
swings, at the bottom of the slide, and at the base of ladders,
ramps, rock walls, etc. After a short time, the grass in these
areas will get trampled down and worn thin. You're then left
with patches of dirt that can turn to mud after a rain. Not a
fun place to play!
A Play Zone can help eliminate that concern.

Safer
For Your Children
The
simple fact is, children need more fall protection than they
typically receive. For the best protection against falls, we can
create a Safe Play Zone around your play set with
Rubber Mulch. Made of clean, shredded recycled rubber, PlaySoft
Rubber Mulch is impact-absorbent to protect children from injury,
plus it's virtually maintenance-free. And it comes with a
10-Year Replacement Warranty.

Lower Maintenance
A Play Zone makes yard work easier on you and
easier on your play set. It eliminates the need to mow and trim in and
around the play set. Plus you won't be damaging your play set
by hitting it with weed trimmer against the wood.
To ensure your
mulch area stays grass and weed free for a long time, we can cut and
haul away all the underlaying sod, install an industrial-grade weed
block tarp, then fill in the area with 3-4" of wood chips.

Blowing In Wood Mulch
Wood Chips v. Rubber Mulch
We can use either groundcover for your play zone.
As a rule of thumb, wood mulch is safer than grass, but rubber mulch
is best for preventing injuries on your play set. Wood chips
cost less initially than rubber mulch but require more maintenance
over the life of your play set.
Wood Mulch
Play Zones range from $850-$995 installed, depending upon the
size and layout of your play system. However, you must also
factor in the cost of "freshening up" your mulch annually.
Just like the mulch in the rest of your yard, it's organic and will
break down over time and requiring you to add more to keep it thick
and looking good.
Rubber
Mulch Play Zones range from $2,300 to $2,800 installed,
depending upon the size and layout of your play system. Though
the upfront cost is higher than wood chips, it is virtually
maintenance-free once installed. Plus you have the piece of
mind knowing that your children are playing in an area with the same
safety rating as commercial playgrounds.
